2-Ingredient Cantaloupe Ice Cream (No Ice Cream Maker)

2-Ingredient Cantaloupe Ice Cream (No Ice Cream Maker)

This 2-ingredient cantaloupe ice cream is an easy frozen treat made right inside the melon. All you need is frozen cantaloupe and a splash of milk to create a creamy, refreshing dessert — no blender or ice cream maker needed.

Ingredients

  • ½ ripe cantaloupe
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk of choice, as needed

Milk options: Whole milk makes it creamy, but oat milk, almond milk, half-and-half, or a splash of coffee creamer also works.

How to Make 2-Ingredient Cantaloupe Ice Cream

  1. Prep the cantaloupe. Cut the cantaloupe in half and scoop out the seeds.
  2. Freeze. Place the cantaloupe half cut-side up in the freezer until completely frozen, preferably overnight.
  3. Let it soften slightly. Remove it from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes so the surface is easier to scrape.
  4. Add the milk. Pour 1 tablespoon of your milk of choice into the center of the frozen cantaloupe.
  5. Scrape. Use a spoon to scrape the frozen cantaloupe and milk together until creamy and scoopable. Add another splash of milk if needed.
  6. Serve immediately. Enjoy it straight from the cantaloupe or scoop it into a bowl.

Tips for the Best Cantaloupe Ice Cream

Use a ripe cantaloupe. A sweet, ripe cantaloupe makes a big difference because freezing can dull the sweetness slightly. Let it sit out for a few minutes before scraping so you can get that creamy texture without fighting a rock-solid melon.

Start with less milk. Add just a tablespoon at first and scrape it into the frozen cantaloupe. You can always add another splash, but too much milk can make it soupy.

Cantaloupe Ice Cream Variations

Vanilla Cantaloupe: Use vanilla coffee creamer instead of milk for a sweeter, richer version.

Cantaloupe & Cream: Use half-and-half for an extra-creamy texture.

Dairy-Free: Use oat milk, almond milk, or your favorite non-dairy milk.

Honey Cantaloupe: Drizzle a small amount of honey over the finished ice cream for extra sweetness.

Why I Love This Recipe

After trying this frozen-fruit ice cream trick with a peach, I had to see if it would work with cantaloupe too. It’s refreshing, creamy, and ridiculously simple. I especially love that the cantaloupe itself becomes the bowl — no blender, special equipment, or ice cream maker needed.
