Lemon De-Bloat Water with Basil Seeds, Fennel + Lemon Balm

Lemon De-Bloat Water with Basil Seeds, Fennel + Lemon Balm

This lemon debloat water is one of those simple drinks that makes plain water a lot more interesting. I made mine with fresh lemon, basil seeds, fennel seeds and lemon balm for a light, refreshing drink that’s easy to throw together.

It’s fresh, citrusy and incredibly easy to throw together.

What You’ll Need

  • Water
  • Fresh lemon
  • Fresh ginger
  • Fennel
  • Basil seeds
  • Fresh lemon balm
  • Ice, optional

I make this one by feel, so you don’t have to obsess over exact measurements. Adjust the lemon and herbs to your taste.

How I Make My Lemon Debloat Water

  1. Wash the lemon and fresh lemon balm.
  2. Slice the lemon.
  3. Add the lemon slices to your glass or pitcher with the fennel and lemon balm.
  4. Add the basil seeds.
  5. Pour in cold water and stir well.
  6. Allow it to sit for a few minutes so the flavors can infuse and the basil seeds can hydrate.
  7. Add ice and serve cold.

Lemon Debloat Water Tips

Give the basil seeds time. Once they sit in liquid, they develop their characteristic gel-like coating, so don’t drink them dry.

Use fresh lemon balm if you have it. I used lemon balm straight from my garden, which is one of my favorite parts of making drinks like this at home

Let it infuse. The flavor gets better after the ingredients have had a little time together.

Would I Make It Again?

Absolutely. This is exactly the type of little kitchen habit Hottieish is about for me — taking something as basic as a glass of water and making it feel a little more intentional with ingredients I already have around.

And when I can walk outside and grab one of the ingredients from my own garden, even better.
